Brand Strategy
Visual brand identity
Gen EM is the team behind an on-demand course designed to help junior doctors feel confident in the emergency department. The course delivers practical, real-world advice in an practical, down-to-earth way—so participants feel prepared for when the pressure’s on.
Most medical education feels sterile and corporate. It prepares doctors for the textbook, but not the chaos of the emergency room floor. Gen EM is led by three founders with plenty of experience, grit, humour, and a strong drive to shake things up. The brand needed to reflect that energy.
We broke with convention. Instead of clinical petrols or corporate blues, we chose a bold, almost brutalist colour palette, assigning each founder their own—red, orange, and blue. These colours run through the brand like a personal signature. They come together in the three feathers of the bird icon: a symbol of bird’s-eye perspective, a carefree spirit, and knowledge passed forward. The ink-trap typeface Bricolage Grotesque gives the identity a modern edge, while a custom icon set adds a rebellious twist. The result is a brand that stands out in the medical world by being unafraid to feel human and different.

Kind words

Nine developed our branding with incredible creativity, empathy, and a deep understanding of both us and our target audience. She went above and beyond with countless revisions to ensure everything was perfect. I’m absolutely thrilled with the result and love every opportunity to put the colours and logos to use. Working with Nine was an absolute pleasure from start to finish.
